Purpose
Valley of the Brick is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, safe, and enjoyable environment for all members, guests, volunteers, and event attendees. This Code of Conduct establishes expectations for behavior and helps ensure that our club remains a positive community for LEGO® enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds.
Expected Conduct
All members and participants are expected to:
- Treat others with respect, courtesy, and kindness.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all individuals.
- Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Valley of the Brick and the LEGO® hobby.
- Respect differing opinions, building styles, skill levels, and creative ideas.
- Follow the instructions and directions of club leadership, event organizers, and venue staff.
- Honor commitments made to the club, including event participation and volunteer responsibilities whenever possible.
- Communicate concerns, disagreements, or conflicts respectfully and constructively.
Unacceptable Conduct
The following behaviors are considered unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action:
- Harassment, intimidation, bullying, or discrimination of any kind.
- Threatening, abusive, or offensive language or behavior.
- Personal attacks, insults, or deliberate disruption of club activities.
- Damage to, theft of, or unauthorized handling of another person’s LEGO® creations, personal property, or club property.
- Any form of discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, or other protected status.
- Behavior that creates an unsafe, hostile, or disruptive environment.
- Illegal activity during club functions or while representing the club.
- Excessive use of alcohol or use of illegal drugs during club events.
Protection of Builds and Property
Members and guests should always respect displayed creations and exhibits. No individual may touch, move, modify, or dismantle another member’s creation without that member’s explicit permission.
Members are responsible for securing and monitoring their own property during club activities and events.
Social Media and Public Representation
Members representing Valley of the Brick, whether in person or online, should conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner. Members should avoid actions or statements that could reasonably be expected to damage the reputation of the club or its members.
Constructive discussion and respectful disagreement are encouraged; harassment, personal attacks, and inflammatory conduct are not acceptable.
Reporting Concerns
Members who experience or witness conduct that violates this Code are encouraged to report the matter to club leadership. Reports will be reviewed promptly and handled as confidentially as practical.
Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith is strictly prohibited.
Enforcement
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following actions, depending on the severity and circumstances:
- Verbal or written warning.
- Temporary suspension from club activities or events.
- Removal from a specific event.
- Revocation of membership.
Club leadership reserves the right to determine appropriate corrective action on a case-by-case basis.
Acknowledgment
By becoming or remaining a member of Valley of the Brick, individuals acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
